Austin Animal Center

As part of bond funding, this was City of Austin’s first major animal center services center.  It incorporated many green building strategies to save energy, water and resources and create a pleasant working environment for the users and visitors and achieved LEED Gold certification.

George Washington Carver Museum and Branch Library

The Carver branch library had been a focus for the African American community of East Austin. With bond funding, a first major museum was built to showcase the participation of this community in Austin. It is popular place for cultural programs, children’s education and archival opportunities. This was one of the first major buildings of Austin to pursue and obtained LEED certification.

Pfluger Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge

Austin’s unique hike and bike trail needed a north-south crossing over Town Lake. The existing sidewalk was creating unsafe conditions resulting in deaths of two people.  After many years of controversies, Austin was able to approve a major pedestrian bridge project which was also an elevated park place over Town Lake. It combined safety, environment and aesthetics to preserve the beautiful trees and views, create safe crossing and enhance bicycle paths. Citizens of Austin have lovingly embraced this project. It has become a destination place for them and visitors.
